Strict bench protocols protect micro-electronics from static.
We never use household vacuums or synthetic brushes that build destructive kilovolt charges. Every system is grounded, cleared with ESD tooling, and repasted on North Tryon Street.
Why is electrostatic discharge prevention critical during cleaning?
Electrostatic discharge is the invisible killer of computer hardware. A spark of just 100 volts can destroy modern 5nm and 4nm semiconductor gate oxides, while a human cannot feel a shock until static builds beyond 3,000 volts. Household vacuums, plastic dusters, and carpeted floors build up enormous electrical charges that fry motherboards and memory sticks without leaving a scorch mark.
At Cleaneeus Workshop, we eliminate static danger before a single screw turns. The technician wears a conductive wristband connected through a one-megaohm current-limiting safety resistor to our North Tryon workshop earth ground. The computer chassis sits on a static-dissipative vinyl mat that harmlessly bleeds accumulated potential to ground.
- Earth-grounded workstation: Continuous bonding prevents potential differences between technician, chassis, and tooling.
- Natural horsehair bristles: Anti-static brushes conduct microscopic charges safely away from surface-mount capacitors.
- Zero-contact fan locks: Cooling fan blades are physically pinned during air blowouts so spinning impellers cannot back-feed voltage into fan headers.
How does our four-stage cleaning process unfold?
We follow a repeatable protocol engineered to eliminate dust, renew thermal interfaces, and verify hardware stability under real workloads.
Intake & Disassembly
We verify baseline boot, ground the chassis, disconnect the power supply, and extract exterior panels, GPU brackets, and heatsink retention clips.
ESD Extraction
Fans are secured to stop reverse-current backfeed. We apply dry compressed air and electronic ESD vacuum suction to radiators, PSU shrouds, and drive cages.
Solvent & Compound
Dried crusty paste is dissolved using 99.9% electronic-grade isopropyl alcohol. Fresh Noctua NT-H2 or Arctic MX-6 compound is applied with calibrated pressure.
Stress Verification
The system is reassembled and booted into Cinebench or Furmark thermal stress cycles for 15 minutes to verify temperature drops before client handoff.
What materials and workshop tools enter your chassis?
Every tool that touches your computer is selected specifically for electronics maintenance. We do not use commercial hardware-store blowers or abrasive solvent chemicals.
Conductive Carbon Nozzles
ESD Safe • Surface Resistivity 10^4 ΩElectronics vacuum attachments that pull compacted lint from heatsinks without producing a static gradient.
Noctua NT-H2 Compound
Non-Conductive • 8.9 W/m-K RatingHybrid thermal compound with microscopic metal-oxide particles providing high thermal transfer without electrical risk.
Electronic Isopropyl Alcohol
99.9% Pure Anhydrous SolventLeaves zero mineral residue and dissolves dried silicone paste without softening adjacent PCB solder mask coatings.
Synthetic Hydrocarbon Oil
ISO VG 32 • Low EvaporationRe-lubricates serviceable sleeve and rifle fan bearings to eliminate high-frequency hum and restore smooth rotor spin.
Wiha & iFixit Precision Drivers
ESD-Dissipative Handles • Hardened SteelEnsures perfect fastener grip on fragile laptop chassis screws and GPU backplates without stripping threaded holes.
Thermal Interface Gelid Pads
12 W/m-K • 0.5mm to 1.5mm GaugeReplaces brittle or dried memory module and VRM MOSFET thermal pads on graphics cards and laptop motherboards.
Who performs this servicing and what proof do we offer?
Our cleaning and maintenance procedures are executed directly by our workshop technician, who has been servicing computers and cooling systems since 2024. Cleaneeus Workshop is an officially registered business in the United States operating from our physical facility at 1210 North Tryon Street, Charlotte, NC 28206.
Every machine serviced under this bench protocol receives our 90-day hardware workmanship warranty. We stand behind our assembly precision, compound application, and fan clearance checks. If you notice unusual fan noise or thermal spikes within 90 days, we bring your rig back onto the bench for inspection at no cost.
What chemicals and shortcuts do we refuse to use?
We refuse to use canned air upside down, which discharges liquid difluoroethane propellant onto boiling hot silicon dies, risking thermal shock fractures. We also reject common WD-40 lubricants inside cooling fan hubs; solvent-based penetrating sprays degrade plastics and attract more airborne dust within weeks.
We do not use cheap generic white silicone paste that separates into clear oily liquid after six months. We only stock proven compounds like Arctic MX-6 and Noctua NT-H2, ensuring your processor remains cool for years between cleanings.
